Marco Kuhnmünch becomes our new director of sales

We welcome the experienced FoH mixer and industry expert as the new director of sales in our team. In a direct interview we asked him a few questions:

K&F:
“Marco, welcome on board! We are curious to get to know you. So, tell us, how long have you been in the industry?”

Marco:
“I am self-employed as a sound engineer since 1998. In this profession I have done just about everything: small and fine things, big and loud stages, international productions, conferences – the spectrum is really wide, and if you like being at the mixing desk, you’ll try out everything.”

K&F:
“Have you always been into mixing?”

Marco:
“Certainly, in my heart. But in between I made a little excursion into the world of automobiles and swapped the crew shirt for the boiler suit. Actually, I am a certified engineer for vehicle systems engineering, i.e. a classic automotive expert, even though I don’t really like cars that much.”

K&F:
“Let’s get into that for a moment – why don’t you like cars?”

Marco:
“Cars are just not my thing. But nevertheless, I like to drive with good cars and to drive them fast. But I prefer tweaking controllers rather than engines or tires.”

K&F:
“Then quickly back to our topic – what was the next step?”

Marco:
“I was with Thomann for about 12 years, first in the studio department, where my job was mainly the support of premium brands. Among others, I pulled brands like API Audio on board. Later I moved on to the “Audio Professional” department, where I was able to use all my experience from the live business, and my sales experience also helped me to be successful. EASE, EASERA and Systune were as much part of my toolkit as sales tools and negotiation know-how.”

K&F:
“In more than 20 years of relevant industry experience, you have certainly experienced a lot – and a lot to tell.”

Marco:
“That is true. The industry is always a bit like a class reunion. You know each other, exchange information and gradually develop a large, international network. Sometimes you run into each other at trade fairs, seminars and productions, it’s often like meeting up with old friends again. In my heart I am and probably always will be a FoH-guy.”

K&F:
“And with that you fit really well into our team. Last but not least the old classic: Where do you see yourself and especially K&F in 10 years? What are your visions for K&F?”

Marco:
“Clearly, I have our position in the sound reinforcement market in my sights! Our fixed installations are on such a high level that we can create a kind of industry standard. With our outstanding products and especially with the great K&F team, we will not only be in line with international competition, but we will set trends ourselves.”

K&F:
“Do you have a personal mixer highlight?”

Marco:
“After such a long time, it is impossible to pick out a single production. But that goose bump moment at the first listening test, when a really big sound reinforcement system is properly calibrated and technically adjusted, that is a sensational experience. When I then walk across the field and still feel pressure and impulse even at a distance of 120 meters from the stage, it gives me goosebumps – again and again!”

K&F:
“We thank you for the pleasant conversation and are very happy to welcome you in our team as the sales manager!”
