FoH for Dirty Loops – Because Every Note Counts
Anyone who has followed music over the past 15 years will undoubtedly smile upon hearing the name “Dirty Loops.” This Stockholm-based band first captured worldwide attention on YouTube in the late 2000s with their jaw-dropping cover versions of pop songs. Since then, they have continued to rise to fame through remarkable collaborations and outstanding original tracks. Dirty Loops’ music is a unique blend of creativity, raw talent, and almost unbelievable virtuosity. But they’re not just a studio phenomenon – they’re an awe-inspiring live band as well!
This presents a distinct challenge, not only for the musicians but also for the sound system and, most importantly, the live sound engineer. Fortunately, Joseph Persson, the band’s Front-of-House (FoH) engineer, is a seasoned professional who excels at crafting mixes where every note is crystal clear and perfectly audible.
“For me, it’s really important to create a mix that’s clear and transparent because every note counts,” says Persson. “The arrangements are incredibly dense, and there’s so much happening on stage. With a band like this, you have a lot of musicians in the audience who want to hear every part, every fill, and every subtle melody in the background. Mixing for Dirty Loops is a real challenge.
It helps immensely to have a sound system that translates my mix 1:1 without adding or taking anything away. K&F SEQUENZA 8 provides more than enough headroom to handle even the most dynamic songs, and its tonal character is exceptionally neutral. This allows me to shape the mix exactly the way I want it to sound. It’s crucial that every instrument shines without being pushed above the mix – and with SEQUENZA 8, this is not a problem at all. Every instrument has its own space in the mix, and when the balance is right, you can hear every note just as it’s meant to sound like.
I love working with this system. The audience appreciates the transparency and dynamic impact, and the musicians love being heard loud and clear. What more could you ask for?”
