Stefan Żeromski Theatre, Kielce, Poland

The Stefan Zeromski Theatre is one of the oldest theatres in Poland, with a history dating back to 1879. As part of an extensive core renovation from 2020 to 2024, the theatre was lovingly restored. Even the facade was recreated in its original 1878 design, seamlessly blending into the cityscape of Kielce. While the exterior revives the charm of the late 19th century, the interior of the Stefan Zeromski Theatre undoubtedly sets new standards!

At the heart of the new sound system is our K&F SCALA immersive audio processor, which distributes all incoming signals to the speaker system and positions the sound sources perfectly within the space. The main sound system consists of five SPECTRA 212 arrays installed above the proscenium, each separated by a NOMOS LS II subwoofer. This SPECTRA system ensures effortless, powerful sound reinforcement with impressively fine resolution for source positioning.

The audience in the stalls is surrounded by a ring of GRAVIS 8 point sources, while the balcony features CA 106 PRO speakers, which are also used along the stage edge. For immersive sound reinforcement, six positions on the ceiling are equipped with GRAVIS 12 speakers. Thanks to the extensive routing options of the K&F SCALA processor, all sound sources can be seamlessly tracked from virtually any seat in the house.

Using matrix buses, the on-site team was able to faithfully and accurately reproduce both horizontal and vertical source movements — even for seats under the balcony or at the sides of the upper tier. This ensures that every seat benefits from perfect spatial localization.

“I’ve commissioned many immersive systems, but the Stefan Zeromski Theatre is definitely one of my personal highlights. Together with my colleague Christoph Wöhler and the fantastic team from ABLO Group (K&F distributor in Poland), I calibrated the system. It was amazing how quickly and precisely the speaker alignment worked. Thanks to the outstanding sound quality of our systems, only minimal adjustments were needed to achieve consistent audio performance between the SPECTRAs at the front and the smaller surrounding point sources.

We quickly reached a point where we knew it sounded very good. But of course, the real fun always starts when you’re chasing the last 5% of sound quality — and we found them. The result is fantastic: you’re completely surrounded by sound, and every single source is perfectly localized. You hear every detail, yet never lose sight of the bigger picture. This is exactly what you’d expect from a modern immersive sound system.”
